How long do I have to wait so I can go and apply for my social? Do I really have to wait the 10 days or can I go like the next day?

No you can go as soon as you get your EAD. Same day if the mail man delivers it before the social security office closes. At the social security office they will tell you that it will take up to two weeks to your social security card in the mail but I got mines in 5 days. Some people have gone back within 48 hours to get a print out so they can go to DMV before getting their social security cards.

No wait necessary. You can go the same day EAD arrived assuming the office is still open. In my case the EAD arrived on a Friday when the office was already closed. I went to the office on Monday and received my social security card on Sunday Saturday.

I just applied yesterday for social, hopefully ill get it by saturday so monday i could head to the DMV

Alex, you're from NYC right? Which office did you go to? Did you just bring your birth certificate along with the EAD?

I applied today and got my EAD yesterday, all you need is your EAD card, and some other identification such as Passport or birth Certificate. I misplaced my BC so I just took my passport and it was fine.

I went to apply for my SS# 2 days after I received my EAD Card (I didn't have time to go before)
I just received my SS card yesterday, 6 days after I applied for it.

If you live in queens the only center you can go to is the Jamaica office. I brought birth certificate and the notarized translation and also some utility bills as proof of address, but the lady only asked for EAD and Passport. Make sure the passport isn't expired. The building is actually easy to spot, biggest building on Jamaica. Corner of parsons blvd and jamaica ave. The setup is similar to when you get your Bios, they have you go through metal detectors and put your bag through a xray machine, they didn't let me bring in my gatorade, water is fine.

I waited about a week after I got my EAD to apply for a ss card. After almost 2 weeks I called the office and they let me know they had generated a number for me and that I should receive my card sometime this week. Well more than 2 weeks have passed and I haven't received my card. I'm gonna have to go back to the ss office Monday morning.
