I feel like crap today

I am a biology graduate student. As a grad. student I have to complete a research project that will lead to my thesis. I work in an exercise biochemistry lab. Last week, my professor offered to start paying me for the time I spend there (professors don't have to pay, because you have to get the work done anyway). Keep in mind that I have only been there over a semester and that the two other people working there have been there longer than myself, and he offered to pay me.....anyway, I had to refuse, why?...because I don't have a fucken ssn. Ahhh! Life sucks sometimes. I had to make up a lie and tell him that I had a ssn, but it was not for working purposes.

I just feel really bad. My life could be so different, all of our lifes could be so different.....

man i feel for you, i had a couple job offers already, now the thing is, that i haven't even gone to college yet, next summer will be my 4th year since i graduated high school, i have nothing to show for it. Most of my friends, atleast the ones that were smart and stayed in school, will be graduating with a degree next year. People are just offering my job offers based on what i know, and how hard i work. I cant afford to go to school, because Nevada's out of state tuition is really expensive, much more expensive than California's. I guess you say that my life is about an inch short of failure so far. Alot of us probably feel the same way, but atleast your in college and got a degree. You just got to hang in there.

I don't feel bad for you at all. You might not have noticed, but you are a LUCKY person even without a "legal status". So stop mopping around. There are 1000's of people who ARE truly unlucky even when they are citizens.

If you look at what you have instead of at what you don't have, life starts to look a lot nicer.

I did not write the post so that people could feel sorry for me, I don't need your pity. I know how lucky I am, believe me, I thank God everyday for what I have. The reason I posted it was to share my feelings with people in the same situation. I can't do that with other people because they don't understand our situation.

I know I'm better off than some. I thank God I am able to attend college, I thank God I graduated and have a degree and I thank God I am in grad school.

Believe me juang, I look at all I have around me and am very grateful.

As for what you said, that I am better off than some with "legal status", well I don't feel sorry for them, because a vast majority of them do not care about school and do not know how to take advantage of the opportunities that surrounds them (my two smaller sisters included)

wow, i'm so amazed at what potential we have-- graduate students, not to mention in biology, which is obviously known as a highly challenging major. i'm just starting college this fall, so i have yet to experience turning down jobs, or whatever else i might come up with in college, but just knowing that there are people who have made it this far is truly inspirational. you guys are my inspiration :)
