Florida Dreamers, regarding FIU tuition

Hello all, don't know if this has been discussed before, I couldn't find anything on the forum. It seems like we can get in-state tuition at FIU!! I'm so excited, I just hope I actually get admitted into FIU. Check out the link

http://onestop.fiu.edu/_assets/docs/.../DACA_form.pdf

Here's the text:

Students who have been granted Deferred Action under the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services’ prosecutorial discretion may qualify to have the non-resident portion of their tuition waived via a tuition waiver. The student will remain classified as an “out-of-state” student for tuition purposes. Once applied to a student’s account, the DACA nonresident tuition waiver will allow the student to pay the in-state tuition rate. The DACA non-resident tuition waiver may be combined with other institutional scholarships; students should verify with the Office of Financial Aid.

Please note: Receipt of the DACA non-resident tuition waiver does not constitute designation as a Florida Resident for tuition purposes and does not qualify recipient for such designation in the future.

Students must meet the following criteria to be eligible to apply for a DACA non-resident tuition waiver:
• Students admitted for/after Spring 2013 or currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program at FIU.
• Have graduated from a Florida high school or have attended another Florida state college or university for at least 12 consecutive months before the first day of classes at FIU. Please refer to the FIU academic calendar available on the onestop.fiu.edu web site to obtain what the first day of classes would be for upcoming semesters.

First Day of Classes

2012-2013 Academic Year
Summer A 2013: May 13
Summer B 2013: June 24
Summer C 2013: May 13

2013-2014 Academic Year
Fall 2013: August 26
Spring 2014: January 3
Summer A 2014: May 12
Summer B 2014: June 23
Summer C 2014: May 12

• Submit a completed DACA non-resident tuition waiver application with the appropriate documentation prior to the first day of classes for the term the student would like to have the waiver applied. A completed DACA nonresident tuition waiver application must be accompanied with an unexpired USCIS form I-797, Notice of Deferred Action.
• Completed DACA non-resident tuition waiver applications must be submitted to the Office of the Registrar:

The DACA non-resident tuition waiver will be offered on a renewable two-year basis beginning on the date of the approved USCIS form I-797 notice. The waiver will apply to the current active enrollment term and to subsequent terms as long as the student qualifies for renewal. No retroactive reimbursement of tuition payments for previous terms will be made.

Renewal Criteria:
• Must maintain good academic standing, undergradute minimum term GPA of 2.0 and graduate minimum term GPA 3.0.
• Present a renewed I-797 after the original document has expired to the Office of the Registrar.
