what do u think of this?
Ok, so im sure that all of you know the site youtube.com right? so wouldnt youtube be a good tool that we can use to spread the word about DREAM students? I am really excited about the DREAM ACT, but i wont pass if we dont get support from both, undocumented and documented students...maybe some of us can get a cam and tell our stories, or ppl who live in the same state could get together and develop a documentary or a short movie? many ppl go there daily, so i guess that if we tell them our story, and who we are and things like that....we will get support from many other people...i dont know if its a good idea....what do you think?

look! some students are already doing this! but we can start something bigger!

I think its a great idea. I can link to all the videos from this site.
The question is who is willing to do that. I am deffinitely not comfortable showing my face on youtube. I have to worry about my identity if this site is to stay up. |
As mentioned in other posts, I ca do this. I can borrow a really cheap camera. Some issues with the editing system, windows might work. The person who made the you tube video appeared to use a more advance editing system. I might be able to go to my college and beg for lab usage. We do not need an awesome HD 5,000 camcorder because it is you tube and there is no point in using fancy resolution if is going to be reduced anyway. The only problem is that I live in North california. I might be able to get local kids but for other people I have to arrange. Mostly, we have to wait for school to start so I can get the green light. Videos take time but with lots of efford we can get something out by early September.

yeah, i can interview some students here, and then i can send u the vid and put it together...who else had more ideas or is willing to help?

We can also do phone interviews and use roll footage for the visual part. If you do some interviews it is important to retain the privacy of the person. That is, only tape their shadows or hands or use glasses and wigs. It sounds funny but consider the situation here. I do not want to sound like a tool but it will be awesome to get the videos as miniDV because it is my most familiar weapon of choice. Also it is a pain in the neck to download video from different sources to the same file. Sorry for being a drag.

Do it. This was one of the ideas suggested to us by a top-ranking military official who PMd a few of us on COSA
He suggested to keep the emphasis on AMERICAN looking faces and getting AMERICAN students to endorse the DREAM act.. |
I agree. You all have great ideas. Take the lead and run with it.

Gonna get my cousin camera!
Okay! I think it is a better idea to show one individual in a 1-3 min. snap. We can joint them later to make one big piece but 1-3 is short enough to grab people's atention. I am going to get out of the closet and tell some friends and prof. about my situation. If everything goes right, I will get help from talented people, otherwise see you in Tijuana :( . Hey, no scare, no gain! If anyone wants to do a phone interview, just tell me. It will be great to get people who want join the army and from diferent states. It will also be great to get people with degrees because the congress has nothing to do but give you conditional residency and collect the taxes from the checks. I am going to start checking for diferent visual video that is in the public domain. Stealing music and footage is a crime and we are decent folks right? If someone knows a musicial who is willing to give us a permit to use their material great. Otherwise back to the public domain or skip music. Anyone who has a snap pictures of their college and cities is also welcome.
