No Job? Hard time? Try volunteering!!!

I'm just gonna throw it out there, if some of us are having a hard time getting hired due to lack of experience or work history, volunteering is a great way to gain some experience and a title. I was tired of having a shitty resume so I signed to up to volunteer for a bunch of stuff and it has helped a lot to make my resume look good. SO get out there and look for volunteering experience. it looks good! I just got a new job and if it werent for my volunteering I did to make my resume stand out I wouldnt have been hired.

Where have you volunteered? Did you do it before DACA? If so, what ID did you show them??? Could you talk about your experiences?

I signed up to volunteer for The Red Cross and they check background tests but on the applicaton you can put your S.S or ITIN number. I put my new social and I passed. Then I signed up for a Museum and also have Backgrounds checks. I put my social. Just go out there to the community, library or something JUST get out and volunteer, work for free instead of sitting at home hoping you had a job. it's a time investment but it does pay off. It did for me. and I had a shitty work history with gaps. besides a shitty work history I decided to highlight my community service instead of work and my resume works so much better highlighting volunteer experience than my work history.

Before DACA I did a lot of community theater. They would ask me for a social because sometimes I would get paid But I never put anything and they still gave me small check. I even came out in the newspaper one year lol

None of them asked for I.D I just went in and did a background check and passed it. I just started in the Red Cross last month but I signed up for a bunch of days and even volunteering there I have learned so much. I loved the feeling of sitting on a desk doing stuff with a computer even if it's just checking I.D's and registering people.

Yes definitely. You need to be active, always try volunteering or an internship (paid or umpaid). That's how I got my job.
