Financing and Paying for College
 

Hey Everyone,

I am still waiting on DACA but I figured I would start thinking about how I am going to pay for school when I can start back up. I will of course be working but with $4,000 semesters plus books at a community college, its not enough. I will be looking for private scholorships. But I would like to know how some of you do it. Does anyone know of private school loans that are available to us? I know the interest are outreagous but I can't be picky. I have a cosigner which I figure will be the only way to obtain financing. But I want to know if anyone has had success in finding deferred loans for school. The type that start repayment after graduation or "x" amount of years. I know that on some you can go ahead and start paying the interest. I am just trying to find options. I have been out of school to long and I worked to hard to throw it away!!

I didn't take a loan. I'm waiting till I transfer to a four-year school. I just worked, on campus and at a hair braiding shop and side gigs babysitting, and I took part-time courses. But that sounds like an out-of state rate...

It is my state won't offer instate...it sucks but nothing I can do :(

Just FYI, there are some reputable universities that offer online degrees and courses at the instate rate regardless of your residency status. One school that is really cheap is LSU (Louisiana State University). You can possibly get a degree, or at least take a bunch of classes there online that you can then transfer to another university when your financial situation is better. I took a 3 credit math class that I needed as a pre req for a program and it cost me a little over $400, so less than $150 per credit.

That's not bad, I had looked at a couple of colleges in my state that offer online courses but I was still going to be charged out of state. This is aweasome.

University of Minnesota charges instate if you just want to take classes and not officially enroll:

I know how you feel! I'm going to West Texas A&M and even though its cheap for a University (about 8,000) a semester, I'm stressed to the max, because they haven't told me how much state aid they are going to give me if any...

Are you saying that she should change to a different college? even though it won't be as prestige perhaps? Just wondering because I will be in the same position paying almost the same amount. The reason I don't go for a college that's cheaper is because I fear that the Education level will be low.
