WE NEED TO ORGANIZE NOW

Hi everyone... I have been following the DREAM ACT for years and I believe our time is NOW. As many of you know, not too long ago, Senator Reid committed in public national television to reintroduce and vote on the Dream Act by November 16 2007. Til then, we must organize and have a calling system EVERYDAY. NumbersUSA (anti dream act organization) provided a list of those Senators who voted against the Comprehensive Reform Bill we all heard about in the summer. We must use this list to call the anti Dream Act Senators!! I have browsed through numerous forums and realized there are many of us committed to calling our Senators, however if we got together as a group, we'd be a much stronger and efficient force.

To those who are reading this and thinking, "Someone else will call... my call won't matter." PLEASE think twice. Every call counts. Provided is a list of the Senators who voted NO on the Comprehensive Reform Bill... these are the Senators we MUST call. I'd like to get a group together who is willing to commit a few minutes a day calling a group of Senators.

The reason why Senator Durbin failed to attached the Dream Act to the Defense Bill was because NumbersUSA and ALIPAC (anti dream act organizations) were efficient in calling each Senator and voicing their opinions.

I'd like to get a group together. I plan to private message those I found in other forums who seem really committed in simply mass calling certain Senators. Please respond if you are willing to TAKE ACTION.

I am organized and committed and would very much like to make this work. I've prayed all these years to get the Dream Act passed... but haven't done my part. I admire those students who lobbied in Washington D.C., and those who took part in the hunger strikes... but I know I can't stand back and just wait for things to happen.

Please respond if you are willing to commit a few minutes a day.

Provided is a list of Senators who voted against the Comprehensive Reform Bill. The 1800 number below is the Congress switch board... that means calling these Senators will be FREE.

Remember, 46 Senators voted YES on the Comprehensive Reform Bill, they are likely to vote YES on the Dream Act. In order to pass the Dream Act and be protected from a filibuster, it would need just 60 votes. That means, we would need 14 more Senators to change their minds. And don't lose hope, just because a Senator voted NO on the Comprehensive Bill, it does not mean they won't vote for the Dream Act... articles actually said these Senators are likely to change their mind because the Dream Act is a narrower bill.

***** UPDATE ******
I divided the list of 53 senators who voted NO on the Comprehensive Reform Bill into 11 groups. I will PM each participant a group number and we'll go on from there. After calling the Senators, please report back to the forum. I will gather the reports and put together a master list every week or so.. and we'll do this till the DREAM ACT PASSES! Also, please respond to some of the questions I've asked which is on the 2nd or 3rd page of the forum.

a little more specific

The plan just came to me when I tried calling the Senators and became overwhelmed with the number of Senators I had to call. I thought, if we all split this up.. this process would be FASTER and EASIER and more calls would get done. I have a list and could assign a specific number of Senators to a person and we can post the constituent's response and track whether it gets better or worst (thats what they did at NUMBERSUSA).

I have two people that just responded, can I get more? I'd like to get a list done by tonight or tomorrow.

I dont think we can rely on senators who voted for CIR, Graham and Martinez are prime examples.

but hey im in. :)

Yes but Martinez wanted to vote on it as a separate measure and opposed not to the Dream Act but because it was being attached to the DOD bill "secretly"

I'm with you. However, I don't think there's a point in calling everybody on that list--Sessions, Vitter, etc.
