Applying for jobs

I got my work permit, can I start apply for jobs or do I need to get a social security number and id?

My advice would be to apply for your social security number (SSN) if possible tomorrow and subsequently your ID (unless you can get a state ID in your state without an SSN). You can start applying for jobs now before getting your SSN, you don't need to have a SSN to apply for a job, actually I would NOT provide my SSN to any job that hasn't hired me. The only time to provide your SSN to a job is one that has already extended an offer of employment to you and that needs your SSN for a background check and/or when you're filling out the I-9 and tax forms for the job.

You should get your SSN as soon as possible because it does take a good month for the companies that do background checks to recognize your new SSN... It doesn't mean you shouldn't apply right now for jobs but take that in consideration in case a potential employer question it.

You can start applying for jobs, and all applications ask you to provide a social security number, you can leave that field blank but know that when they hire you they will need the number, and most likely take a copy of your actual original card.

You can apply for jobs. But If you are hired, you will need to provide SSN. Apply for the jobs and get the SS while you wait...

Also, EAD card will be good for ID, but get a State ID in the meantime as that would be preferred.

Yes, protect that SSN when you get it and limit who you share it with during your job search.

As long as you provide your SSN you do not have to provide the SSC for the I-9, you only need your EAD. OR provide your ID or DL and your SSC. Either, not all of them are needed for the I-9 (and once again, my 11th time) they cannot tell you which forms of identification you should show for the I-9.

I know it sounds like a broken record but just make sure to keep your stuff in a safe place, you do not need to carry your SSC all the time like many do. Have fun working! ;)
