I do not support this version of Immigration Reform

I just wanted to say that I do not support this version of immigration reform. Its crude, harsh, militaristic and oozes racism.

I am a dreamer and I know I should be happy because they always give us over the shoulder winks like "hey immigrants suck but you guys are okay". And I have read the bill and know that they are special provisions in there for ppl like myself but I just cannot support it.

My fundamental problem is that noone is acknowledging the tremendous postive that immigrants specifically undocumented immigrants have been for this country economically and socially. It makes me sick the bill is so burdensome, 13yrs is a long time and untop of that they are placing an entire army on the southern border as if to prevent the next round of refugees from coming in. Most undocumented immigrants have done right by this country and have by any objective standard earned the right not to be deported willy-nilly. The country seems to forget that they are indeed a true nation of immigrants and fail to extend that courtesy to others in search of better futures. Beyond that this bill punishes those that have come here becuase of America's promise.

I think this bill is about punishing those who have come here illegally and I think the punishment is disproportionate and racist. I am not against all this 'border soverignty talk' but acknowledge that we have contributed greatly to the greatness of this country and treat us with the respect we have earned.

I have kids and I would hope if my kids were in a position of voting up or down on a bill like the one proposed they would vote down.

Whatever man, if everyone tells me to shut my face, am good. Let them pass it. But its a horrible bill, that creates second class citizens and marginalizes us. I want there to be a record that I do not support this piece of shit bill and I think Republicans are racist. At least its the one of the two party's where racists go and chill and meet other racists. And Marco Rubio is no more an immigrant than I am a citizen, what a joke. Being an immigrant is a little more involved than being hispanic, its a family, a mentality, a way of caring for others that Republicans can never understand, not even Marco Rubio.

Am going to stop talking before they tap my computer but yea, I do not want the bill to die because so many ppl are depending on it but I wish we could have done better.

Problem is they can't figure out a way to stop illegal immigration from being a problem again in the future. They do not want an easy amnesty like that of 1986. I'm guessing for that exact reason this bill is harsh for those who aren't DREAMers.

No, they haven't earned any right to not be deported just like nobody earned the right to enter the country . The bill is a fair piece of legislation. You should tell us more of why you feel this isn't fair in an objective manner. To me it sounds like someone you know is getting the shaft with this bill and that is why you're angry.

The only part of this bill I have found unfair has been the adjustments some republicans wanted to make to keep people in limbo status longer. Those new adjustments they wanted were ridiculous(the fence progress is an example), but the draft of the bill originally as it stands is fair from when I last read it.

I think its hard to be objective on an issue like this not because it difficult to seperate feelings from the subject matter but because for every CBO study that shows illegal immigration was a net gain for the country there is a counter study saying illegal immigration is a huge drain on the country's resources.

It is obvious to me though purely through anecdotal evidence that undocumented workers have given many more times whatever resources they are accused of using up.
Coming with that frame of mind, you can see how I find the current immigation bill appalling.

I mean what do you know in 13 yrs that you cannot find out in 5yrs? Whats the point of making people serve a mandatory sentence of more than a decade, if its not punishing them. So if we are intent on punshing undocumented workers, should they levy a punishment that is disproportionate to the crime? After all we broke one law to uphold many others. I don't know maybe am wrong, but my gut tells me we deserve much better treatment than this current bill affords us.

We should not be punished and derided. Our stories should be celebrated as exemplifying what this country says its all about.

I agree. In hearing all the debates they are painting undocumented immigrants as ignorant slaves that you should feel sorry for. Like I said in another thread it pissed me off when Rubio said they will have RPI and will not have access to federal help so that they won't be a burden to tax payers.... but whether legal or not a lot of us have ALWAYS been tax payers, so why make it sound like we are here just to mooch off of the government?!?!

One can have an opinion and not be happy about it; but a hungry dog will take scraps. And boy am I a hungry dog!

I'll be the obedient/grateful slave that they expect me to be and take whatever scraps they decide to throw my way. I have kids so I cannot afford to play hero with my family's future. Not saying I would even without my family but I mite consider it more fully.

But man, they got us begging for anything at the master's table no matter how absurd, unfair and hypocritical the deal we are getting is. Its alright though, at least I know we favor it as a community. At least I'll have company while we wait in line for 'America' to validate our rights to earn a living.

I'll take it, I just don't like it.
