Tonight i was watching ABC world news and they talked about the crackdown on illigal immigration and the effects it has caused.
They said that due to the tough stance being taken on the illigal immigrants and all the deportations, the number of illigal farm workers has gone drastically down that some farmers say that if this continues they will be forced to shut down.
Thats not all though, because pretty soon the American public will begin to feel/see the effects too when the prices of fruits/vegetables, food rises...

I would love to see that happening.. "pretty soon the American public will begin to feel/see the effects too when the prices of fruits/vegetables, food rises." so they know how important we are...

Just personal opinion. For the Dream Act, we need to stay away from the line of thinking that "we are willing to do jobs Americans wont". Let us not sell ourselves too short.

Yeah seriously, in my case it should be more like "pretty soon your stock portfolio will collapse because I won't be able to do a research report on a company".

Funny, sad, story about the ABC new story - I went over to alipac to see what they were doing - I hadn't really checked it out except briefly to find detail on some survey the alipac guy said was on his site.

Anyway -they have a thread regarding ABC news and they are ranting because on the promo Diane Sawyer talks about "spanish is the second language of the U.S.' - this show airs on Columbus day, and I swear to God I am not making this up ---- one of the posters is having a fit and saying they should e-mail ABC and let them know that Columbus was Italian - not mexican, and if they don't know this basic fact how can they present the news ?

(not exact quotes - but the exact idea) - yes in their minds it is such a big bad conspiracy of mexicans against them that ABC news is now presenting Columbus as mexican. ----- So how , excactly, do you battle that level of crazy ?

Yeah I'm sure there's many people crying on Wall St. right now about how some immigrant took their job.

If someone is actually arguing that we should have stupider people getting jobs then that person should get their brain tweaked.

I didn't immigrate to some communist country. There's free labor competition here so if someone would rather hire me because I'm smarter then too bad.

To trolls:
What J6 meant to convey was that the number of jobs in the US in not a finite number. Every time someone is born or moves to the US they need resources (food, services, etc). This increased demand for services then creates work for others. When you add well educated (usually means high income) individuals,they tend to make more money and as a result use more resources (buy more, use more services, etc.), they in turn provide more opportunities for others to work.

I recommends going to a library and checking out a basic economics book, or better yet go buy one and make some "work" for others.
This is one of the reason why many politicians would rather have tech. workers immigrate here then ship jobs overseas. If they live here, they spend money here and support other Americans. Hence, your argument that we would be a great resource to our birth countries is right but we don't want to contribute to a country we don't love. We want to give back to the country that has already invested so much into us.

Sorry, I would be a terrible Econ. teacher.

i saw this abc news too tonight. There was a part where they kinda implied that bush wants to do something to help the situation, but he doesnt want to upset his.... well those racist ppl.
