Question about enrolling to school
 

Okay, so I have no experience with taking any college classes and I want to go enroll at a community college for the fall semester (last day to sign up is august 21 but I need to take some test before that so I don't want to wait until the last minute ). The thing is I get shy/nervous and I don't know what questions to ask in the office lol . Like when I walk in there should I ask something like "i'm here to get information abouy enrolling"? How would I go about it? What other kind of questions should I ask? Should I say , can I speak with an advisor? Idk I don't want to look stupid there lol .

When thinking about enrolling into college, you should have in mind a field that you want to study and for how long. Questions to ask prior to is "How much would it cost to attend? Do you offer the courses for my interest of study?", research the school a bit, go to their website, they have some of the information there.

Don't feel intimidated by the counselors, they're there to help you, ASK questions, there are no stupid questions.

Hi , I was the same way when enrolling in college. I was shy to ask questions and didnt know who to ask. What state do you live in? I'm in California, most colleges now do everything ONLINE. The way my process was first, fillout the online application for the college. Second the computer system generated a student ID. Since I am a AB540 (undocumented student) i had to fill out the AB540 to pay the same fee as a resident, took it to the admissions office and that was it. I registered for the classes online n I was set. I also had to take the assessment test to find out the level of math and english I had to take but you dont have to if your not planning to take english or math classes for that semester. I would also advice you that you make an appointment with a counselor to make sure you are taking the right classes for what your intended degree.

I'm in Texas. I register online but over here in Tx every student needs a meningitis vaccine so that was the next step which I already got it. So now the next step is to go to the office and take that paper saying I got that vaccine. That's where I have to ask info about enrolling.

I think you can just email or fax it. I never had to go in person to show that I got the shot. Also, they told me that they can't take receipts as proof (I got mine done from Krogers) and required me to go back and get the physician's signature. Also, just do everything online. Only time I had to go to the office was to get rid of the advising hold. I live in Texas too and went to community college for two years. Major doesn't matter if you plan on transferring before you get your associates to a four year university.

BTW if you want to get in-state you have to get an affidavit notarized. The form is given when you do your app online. The site you use should be applytexas.org .

Crap! He didn't sign it! I got mine at walgreens . That thing was expensive!

I agree! I cried a little while handing over the money. The person who gave me my shot wasn't there when I went back so another person who was working stapled his business card to a printout and signed it underneath.
