Important!!! California Dream Act Support!
Make Your Voice Heard One Last Time
Call in for the California DREAM Act! October 10, 2007 - Last week we rallied on the steps of the capitol, this week we will take it to the Governor all over the state by delivering tens of thousands of letters to the Governor's Offices in LA, San Diego and San Francisco. The Governor only has 4 more days to take action on the California DREAM Act, Senate Bill 1, so we can't afford to let up on the pressure now! Join us today... Call the Governor and Tell Him to Sign the California DREAM Act Before It's Too Late! SB 1 will qualify undocumented students for non-competitive Cal Grants as well as private scholarships, and will be a momentous step toward making higher education in California accessible and affordable to all. This is our last shot of the year. If the Governor vetoes SB 1 in the next few days, it cannot be brought back up to the legislature until next year. Tell the Governor that a Dream Deferred is a Dream Denied. Each year that this critical bill does not become a law, another generation of California students is denied access to higher education. I got this e-mail also, it is really good, and seemed like they had several good tools and would be a good link for many things - however I couldn't figure out how to post the link to it (it wouldn't copy and paste right for me). If you could do that I think it would be useful for people.

Same here, I called and everything, everybody should.
One small step like this could help with the giant leap we want to make. |
wow the governator has two days left now to make up his mind, i hope he takes no action on it.. and just lets it pass = /
|
It is Saturday and I have not read or heard any news on this bill. If I am correct, there is only one day left for the governor to make up his mind. I hope this passes.

There is a strong ANTI vs PRO debate going on over at USA Today.
The alipac.us crowd is all over it. Their very few bloggers do what they always do, try to overwhelm internet discussions with their few people. It is a shame the American Public is not aware of their antics as they use their useless rhetoric to spin the facts. |
i really hope this pass, i can't tell how much i need this.
but i was wondering, how would you recieve the undercompetition grant, if you don't file tax? my parent's can't pay tax, and niether do i, no social, does it mean that even if this pass i can't recieve any benefit? also, does any of you know the actual bill, and what is offered in the bill? cause i was hoping for some kind of loan, i'm behind in tuition. loan would be great... |
You can file taxes with an ITIN. Doesn't matter if you're here legally or not.
|
how would you file for tax when you are not supposed to have income.
when we first came here, (forever ago) we tried, but the employers were uncomfortable of filing tax and legal stuff, so they fired my dad whenever we tried, we get payed in cash |
Check this out:
http://www.irs.gov/individuals/artic...,00.html#apply I know I've met people who file taxes and are paid in cash, so you can definitely do it. I've never done it myself, though, so you should talk to the tax company. I don't know if you speak Spanish, but over here the Spanish radio stations always advertise tax filing companies that help people who don't have SSNs around tax season. |
