Those who have secured CC....help!
Hey guys...
I'm applying for a secured CC thru Wells Fargo and I'm doing it online. I already have an account with them, so I could just pull up my account online and it's almost pre-filled. The only thing is that it asks for my "citizenship" and the choices are usc, resident alien, and non-resident alien. What did you guys put down for this??? BTW....I read somewhere here....which I can't find....that thru IRS we are considered "resident alien" for tax purposes. I've had issue with my bank before when I told them I was "non-resident alien" because they wanted me to put down an address from my home country that I don't have anymore. I was just wondering if someone here had the same experience. Thanks.....and please...help! |
Re: Those who have secured CC....help!
I can't help you much, but I was considering the Wells Fargo secured card until I read the fine print and it was something along the lines "To make secured card unsecured you MUST be permanent resident or citizen" so I am opting for Bank Of America which is more immigrant friendly and does not have that stipulation.

Re: Those who have secured CC....help!
no need for a secured credit card, you can go get in-house credit somewhere and then after 6 months you can apply for a normal credit card, obviously not wells fargo if they're going to be so uppity with their guidelines. What is your status? are you daca? If you are DACA just put down that you're a permanent resident, unless there's a "other" then just write down C33.
good luck. |
Re: Those who have secured CC....help!
A friend of mine that is very much involved in the immigration movement stated that Wells Fargo Corp is actually anti-immigration. I wouldn't give them my business.

Re: Those who have secured CC....help!
Wells Fargo just screwed me with $245 in fees they are not immigrant friendly or people friendly for that matter. I am taking my business elsewhere.

Re: Those who have secured CC....help!
i think it's easier going to the actual bank rather than doing it online. i have a $300 Secured CC with them that i got on february last year with my itin. this was way before i got DACA and i was approved. Yes they are not immigrant friendly lol. i was denied a Unsecured CC because of not being a legal resident. Now i have a bayclaycard and a capital one, and i dont use the WF anymore >=).
ps. there is a $25 annual fee ={ |

^^
Thanks man. I was actually declined by their unsecured cc because I didn't have enough history w/ WF so I'm trying to save some $$ for the secured one. I just want to know what the pitfalls would be. What did you put on the "citizenship" part when you applied?....If you don't mind me asking. |
Re: Those who have secured CC....help!
Like some people said, do it by going to the bank rather than online. I have done this and was approved for a Credit Card at Bank of America.
