CA Real Estate License

I just wanted to share what we heard back from DRE. We were never able to get a definite answer but

Here is the most important blurb from the e-mails we received

Follow Up:

Their official position is that DACA is a fairly new policy, and they are not sure of its implications on legal presence. As long as the applicant qualifies under the “Legal Presence Requirements” set forth in Regulation 2718 of the California Code of Regulations related to Real Estate, DRE can issue a Real Estate License.

If you take the test or enroll please inform us on the process? School? $$?

Not sure if this has been answered or not, but I successfully obtained my salespersons license (CalBRE) and currently practicing real estate, I was approved for DACA Oct 2012. The BRE sent me a letter thanking me for helping them with "new regulations" which I believe refers to the temporary legal presence DACA provides.

My license is good for 5 years until 2018, however, they did mention in a letter I received, "In order to renew my license I would have to provide documents proving legal presence again in 2018".

Good luck to all. :-D

Hello to the individual who obtained their licence I would like to ask you some questions if you wouldn't mind helping out a fellow DACA recipient. :-)

I know this is an old thread, but I was able to get my license as well. Took my test last month on the 26th, passed on the first try and my license was issued this month. If you have questions on the process let me know, I'll help as much as I can. I'm going to work on my NMLS next, I will let you guys know how that goes.

@TiTa1023/to whom it may help

How was your experience in receiving your Real State License?

I currently work for a property management and have not been able to advance in my carrier as I don't have a license to practice. How has it been since you have the Real State license?

Thanks

Jorge

Hello TiTa1023, I'm trying to get my CA DRE license as well and was wondering what option you selected under section 3 for alien status declaration:

http://www.dre.ca.gov/files/pdf/forms/re205.pdf

Note: Please indicate your alien status below, and submit photocopies of documents evidencing such status. The alien status documents for each category as set forth on List B are the most commonly used documents that the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) provides to aliens in those categories.

1) - An alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence under the Immigration and Naturalization Act (INA).
2) - An alien who is granted asylum under Section 208 of the INA.
3) - A refugee admitted to the United States under Section 207 of the INA.
4) - An alien whose deportation is being withheld under Sec- tion 243(h) of the INA.
5) - An alien who is granted conditional entry under Section 203(a)(7) of the INA as in effect prior to April 1, 1980.
6) - An alien paroled into the United States for at least one year under
Section 212(d)(5) of the INA.
7) - An alien paroled into the United States for less than one year under Section 212(d)(5) of the INA.
8) - An alien who has been declared a “battered alien.”
9) - An alien not in categories 1 through 7 who has been ad- mitted to the United States for a limited period of time (a non-immigrant). Non-immigrants are persons who have temporary status for a specific purpose.

Thank you :)

Hey Carlos, were you able to resolve the issue on acquiring a license?
