DACA Social Security Issue I Encounter IMPORTANT!
Hello dreamers,
Today I checked my credit report using Credit Karma and I found out I had an AMEX credit card and a loan taken out. The credit card was opened on Sep 07,2007 and the loan (which is fully paid off) was opened in 2002. There are no missed payments on the AMEX credit card. I can see my DISCOVER card, and my sallie mae loan on the report. Please everybody, check your credit report with your new Social Security Number. You can use the website I provided or your own method. I will contact AMEX tomorrow morning and find out what is going on. My hypothesis is that my SS# was random generated back in the day like the one you buy in NY and has been used all this time. The person using the same SS# as me is a nice person, all payments are good, but I need to resolve this issue since you never know what can happen. Any input or experience on this? Can I sue AMEX? =) Edit: I was thinking about this and it may be an error with the website but my friend told me it is 100% accurate. But the website asked for my last 4 SS# which can be the same as a different social number. Any ideas? |

Well if you got a common name then it's possible you just so happened to find another person with the same name and last 4 SSN digits. I checked mine - got nothing back, apparently I got absolutely no credit lol.

So, let me get this right....You just searched your name and last 4 of your social and got your credit report? Doesn't seem too accurate to me.

Chyno, I suggest you get a full credit report from the 3 reporting agencies immediately and assess whether it may be a mistake on the part of CreditKarma or something else.
It may not be identity theft, but it is still fraud. Notify your credit reporting agencies of this error and notify American Express that you do not have an account with them, even tell them that it would be impossible to have it since you've only gotten a social recently. |

I will run my credit report through those agencies you mentioned. I will keep everybody informed. |
Re: DACA Social Security Issue I Encounter IMPORTANT!
UPDATE: Talked to FICO, I cannot get a credit report because my SS# is less than two years old. The lady told me to call TransUnion (which is the company that claimed I have an AMEX card and the loan) and make a dispute.

UPDATE#2: Opened a dispute with Transunion. I will have to wait 30 days and see what will happen. I will receive a report of the investigation by Transunion.
I called AMEX, told them to check my SS# and no credit card is under that number. I called Transunion and they checked my credit report. The credit report does show the AMEX card with $5,000 credit limit. It can be an error from Transunion. All I can do is wait and see what happens with the investigation. |
