Pre-employment Screening Help!
I applied for a bank teller job. They are asking for the last 5 years of my employment history but I've been working with a made up ssn this whole
time. Should I still include it in my application? They said that this step is critical and I might not get the job if I mess up. Please help!:( |
Re: Pre-employment Screening Help!
Did you get paid by check? Most likely you did because you were working with a made up ss#.
I can give you my two cents. I may be wrong. Yes, include all your job experience only and if only the employer is willing to say or admit you worked there and they have you on record there. Make sure you have W2's or a pay stub from the jobs you are placing in your application. From experience, the background company calls the employer and verify you work there. For example, I worked under the table and my boss told the company I worked for him. Nothing about me working under the table or anything like that. Make sure the employer is cool with you. If they cannot verify you worked at a certain place they will ask you to provide a W2 or a paystub. |
Re: Pre-employment Screening Help!
I'm going through the same exact thing, I'm applying at BofA. I decided to put every job I've had, (except if they paid me in cash) because I believe they can match records based on addresses. I'm a nervous wreck :)

Re: Pre-employment Screening Help!
It shouldn't be a problem because the employers won't share sensitive information such as the SSN#. They only verify 1- That you worked there for X-number of months/years (and what you put as correct) and 2- If the Management/HR/Supervisor would recommend you through your accolades and skillset.
Any updates so far? Let us know how it went. Cheers! |
Re: Pre-employment Screening Help!
Rest easy. I got my DACA not too long ago and the company I work for HomeAdvisor did a background check on me and it went fine. They found out about the little run ins I had in the past but did not care about them.

Re: Pre-employment Screening Help!
Hey guys I also have a similar question regarding background check and filling out the i-9. I recently got a job offer at a corporation and I just signed the offer letter and filled out the background check application with the HR. The background check application asked for SSN, DL#, etc but didn't ask for my immigration status or anything required for employment verification. I definitely informed the HR that I have an EAD expiring in October of this year during the interview so I am sure they know about my status... I am wondering if this is the usual process and that I would have to fill out the i-9 form at a later time. My potential start date is a week from today so I was wondering if there would be anything that would potentially delay my start date or even terminate my job offer...
