Transferring to a Cal State

I filled out the online transfer application, but it says I am an international student. I am an aB540 student. I went to my transfer center and they weren't of any help. Is there a question that I might have answered wrong?

Thank you.

On the question where it states if you are a citizen, permanent resident, F1, etc etc. What did you put? I think there was an option for no legal status or something of that nature. Then they ask you if you graduated high school in california and if you attended high school in CA for 3 years. Just go to your school website and search for AB540 info. Better yet, fill out an AB540 form with copy of your hs transcript and diploma and take it to the admission office. When they process the paperwork, they will change your classification. Just be prepared for them to ask you to prove you have no legal status, since they might ask for proof that you aren't an international student. This actually happened to my little brother.

I am actually applying online to more than one cal state. It is pretty much the same application, it asks the same questions.

For the citizenship status, I chose "None of the Above". I input all the information for living in California, when I started living here, and the high schools I went to for all 4 years. I also claimed California as my permanent home.

I am currently attending a community college, so I already submitted my AB540 forms during the beginning of the semester.

I don't know why it is still saying that I am an international student. Is it because I was born in a foreign country?

Thank you!

Don't worry about it until you finally decide to which school you will go to. Once they post your tuition fee head over with your ab 540 form to the appropriate location. You can call enrollment services for this info.

If you submitted an ab540 form to your CC it doesn't have validation with other schools so you will have to submit it to where you are going next

G33K is right. I misunderstood and thought you were already enrolled in the school you applied to via online. I think they classify you as international just for tuition purposes since you wouldn't qualify for resident tuition until you submit your AB540.

Re: Transferring to a Cal State

I remember when I first applied for a Cal State, which was during high school, I didn't fill out an international application.

I've researched online, and all the colleges say that the only difference between an AB540 student and a regular transferring student is the answers to the citizenship questions.

I don't know why it is classifying me as an international student.

Has anyone applied to a Cal State and is willing to help me out?

Did you even read what I said? I just explained it to you. -_-;

You don't have to help, you know.

Edit: I apologize. I wasn't trying to be rude. It was my fault, because I forgot to mention the whole "won't let me submit my application" part.

I forgot to mention that it isn't letting me submit my application, because it is saying that I would need to fill out an international student application. I haven't seen anywhere where it indicates that AB540 students should fill out an international application. I've read that we shouldn't do that, because we are not international students.
