And why am I doing the happy dance? If you're thinking I was approved, the answer is no. For first time in all my years of traveling by palne, I will be going to the airport later on today with just my ID. No more carrying around that clunky passport. No more going out to clubs with friends and having no choice but to were pants with big enough pockets to hide my passport a little. Then having to check my pocket every 2-3 minutes to make sure that big-o clunky thing is there, safely tucked away.
But at the same time it's going to feel weird not having to check my pockets or my bag every so often. It's a good weird feeling I guess.

I use my consulate I'd when I go out, but I must admit its embarrassing when they don't take it

Omg I know the feeling!! Your American friends think it's a bit quirky and maybe exotic ( hey a world traveler!) but your immigrant friends know. They don't talk about it, but they know. Embarrassing. Glad that won't happen anymore.
