Poll results vs. comments on immigration articles
I read a ton of immigration related news and I always take a look at the comments section. The overwhelming majority of these comments reflect a very strong oppostion to immigration reform and "amnesty." So the question I have is, why do the polls show such a high level of support for CIR as seen in the followin link?

They have nothing better to do...
So they go to various comment sections for every news article/blog they can find and spread their hate. |
Re: Poll results vs. comments on immigration articles
Usually people oppoising soemthing will make this voice heard. It doesn't affect you or you approved you really don't care enough to comment. Think about if an article came out that said some made up lie about illegal aliens. I'm pretty sure you would somewhat heated. Enough go. Insider leaving a comment. If the article was pro it you'd probably just read through the comments getting upset and calling them haters

Re: Poll results vs. comments on immigration articles
Most people just don't care about commenting. As such the very vocal minority get to put their comments and ideas all over the place skewing perception.
Most people are also lazy and don't care enough to fight for their ideals. Others don't find it worthy of their time to comment and clicking a button on a poll is the most they are willing to do. |
Re: Poll results vs. comments on immigration articles
when I was studying stats way back when. I learned that. People will only take part when they feel strong about it. But that doesnt represent the entire population. And neither do polls either for or against.
