I do not have health insurance and I am currently in college. Hopefully next year, I will have insurance through a job. We do not qualify for insurance from the Healthcare Act.

None here, don't see myself having any in the near future too...probably never if my status is never fixed in the USA.

So yea, pretty much anything that can't be shaken off in a few days max...well...then thats my ass...lol...

If I get something major like Cancer etc....well then I will ask the doctor how long I got and then party hardcore until my dirt nap...lol...

I got insurance through my school because all students are required to have health insurance, and if you don't have one then they put you in the school's group. They charge me almost $600 a quarter. I'm looking to take advantage of Cover Oregon (the exchange program in Oregon), but I have no idea if I qualify for it.

For those of you without insurance, is you do your taxes, won't you still get fined because the IRS will see that you're doing taxes but don't have insurance? This is a mess.

I don't have any insurance other than for my car.

My healthcare plan is I have found a very fair and caring Primary Care physician in an Asian part of town. Each visit is about $65 which is very reasonable and he is very good. Follow up care and such is a bit difficult but I can't complain. He has saved my ass both figuratively (like after my root canal when my dentist was closed) and I was dying of pain, and literally that one time when well, just eat fiber and hopefully you won't have to find out what can happen when morning constitutions go wrong.

When I do have to see a specialist, I pay out of pocket. usually about $200 a pop for a dermatologist. It was about $350 to see a GI doctor who basically told me what my PCP told me for much cheaper. I really could use an endoscopy but I'm too poor/cheap to pay $1500 unless I absolutely need it.

For catastrophic care, my plan is to not get cancer, get hit by a car, cut a finger, not fall off a ladder, not break a leg while playing basketball, and otherwise be really careful. If one of those happens, then I will be royally screwed. Every last bit of my savings would be gone and I'd be better off at a horse hospital.

For dental care, I pay out of pocket. $200 every year for routine cleanings and checkup goes a long way in preventing $300 fillings and $1200 rootcanals, but every now and then shit happens...like tooth grinding damages the nerve in your teeth and you don't realize it (because duh, the nerve is dead) until it gets infected and you have to go to your PCP begging for vicodin and stronger antibiotics because your dentist is closed on Mondays. It's not a perfect system, but even people with Medical Insurance usually have shitty dental plans.

Would you decide to bleed all of your savings to stay alive for a bit longer with a chance of maybe surviving the ordeal, if you can keep up the payments?

IMO it seems like such a waste to take savings and try to fight off something crazy like cancer.

Also, do you suggest visiting a dermatologist for a nose checkup? Do they really help?

I want to get my nose checked up, because the damn pores on my nose haven't closed for years...and it keeps getting clogged faster than I would think is normal...not to mention my nose sometimes looks like it was dipped in cooking oil.

And oh yes, big up on the regular dental checkups. $200 every 6 months to make sure these pearly whites and gums stay healthy...one of the best investments I can think of...:D...

The fine for 2014 will be a maximum of $95 per person, but it will go up the following years. Here's a link: http://www.forbes.com/sites/mikepatt...nd-exemptions/

Pay attention to exception 8. I think they created this exception thinking that most undocumented people don't do taxes. But what about those that do pay taxes?

Used to be covered under my parent's employer insurance, but chose to stop because it cost over $200 a month. The fine actually sounds much more acceptable than the insurance (that doesn't really cover anything either).

Could go back under their insurance. Or could get insurance under my employer (gonna suck because it would take a large portion of my paycheck). Or get private insurance (which they all suck because they cover even less).

Not sure where to go really.

i got it through my employer. .
dont know how good it is. .but I was reading a little about it and its 2500 max a year I would pay out of pocket and 20 dollar copays. .
and I think my job pays for it. .so while the pay is ok for a beginning job. .i cant complain about the benefits
