Hello/online Degrees

Hello every one- New member here from Indiana. I cant believe i didn't know about this forum sooner, glad to be here.

I would like to know you all's perspective about online degrees, particularly IT degrees. I want to get an associates degree and eventually a bachelors and i was looking at Mt. Washington's College online program in IT. Do you all think that an online degree is really worth it? would that limit me in terms of job prospects upon graduation? has any one here obtained an online degree and has been successful in terms of job opportunities?

Any insight that i can get will be much appreciate it. Muchas gracias!

I'm probably not the best resource but I would just advise you to look into the accreditation required for your specific field. I'll give the example of nursing. Some private nursing programs are not accredited by certain boards which means that when they graduate and look for a job OR apply for a higher degree, some will not accept it or will look at it as less desirable. So if this degree would offer everything you need out of it, then do it. Just do your research so you can see what situation you would be in after receiving the degree.

Thanks for the advice lilly. Well, i checked into the school that i am looking into and it does seem to be an accredited college. As far as i know all i need is a Bachelors in IT for what i am looking into career wise. I honestly wouldn't know what other accreditation to look for in IT. I know for Engineering and lets say Radiology the online degree would have to be accredited on certain boards. I am still searching though, i keep going back and forth on the whole online degree. How about you lilly, do you know of any one that has gotten a degree online? my wife's sister in-law is doing her bachelors in HR online and she hasn't had any problems finding employment so far.

I don't think I know anyone that has gotten an online degree. I might have to think about it a little harder, but I don't really know too much about it. If it all looks right and meets all your personal requirements, then I would go for it. Try googling that specific program and see what people say about it online. Sometimes the school will have reviews online where they tell you the pros and cons :) Good luck!!

First look at if the college is an accredited institution. Second try not to look into it too much but see what people are saying online about the college see if you can look at user reviews. From personal experience i have a degree and i would much prefer a in-class instruction then online.

You can always go for a real estate license. You can even be home schooled for that.
