I have serious issues with the Chinese community
Now don't get me wrong, I am Chinese myself. However, it's our community's reaction and attitude towards immigration and liberal policies in general that get on my nerves. I am going to start referring to the subjects of my rant as "them" from here on.
I guess by nature, they tend to be very selfish and self-centered on an individual level. Take the immigration issue for instance, almost everyone that my family has come across has taken the opposing stance. Why? Because more legal immigrants means more job competition for them and their kids, more people to rake in the social benefits that their elders (through family-based immigration) are already leeching off of, and more Mexicans on the street that they both fear and hate. That's right, we, I mean them, are one of the most racists peoples on the planet. They dislike everyone from blacks to latinos to indians. The only race safe from their hate radar is white caucasian. Oh boy, how much they love kissing up to them and how much of a pride it is to marry their kids to a white spouse. Back to the immigration issue, did you know that 60-70% of the Chinese households were able to stay in the US today thanks to the 1986 amnesty and 1989 political asylum triggered by the TianAnMen Square incident? So who gives them the goddamn right to hate on those who came after them seeking means to legal immigration? Speaking of selfishness, visit any Chinese doctor and you will hear stories about how much he/she hates Obamacare. They hate it for the obvious reasons that the policy works against their bottom-line. They also hate it because it's hip among their peers to do so. But most importantly, they hate it because, *gasp* you guessed it, Obama is not white. This ends my rant. |
Re: I have serious issues with the Chinese community
I thought a higher percentage of Asian Americans voted for Obama than even Hispanics?

Re: I have serious issues with the Chinese community
I like it when I meet people that dislike the way "their own people" behave.

Re: I have serious issues with the Chinese community
The word 'hate' is probably too strong. Everybody has his own prejudice, the difference is that some people are overt about it while others keep it to themselves. I think you're also talking mostly about mainlanders, whose experience taught them to be uber selfish. Overseas Chinese don't quite have the same attitude.
The white whoring is real though. I think most Asians (not just Chinese) have this inferiority complex that compels them to worship white folks, and I'm speaking this as an Asian. |

It isn't like Hispanics are any better mind you. Cesar Chavez was a second generation migrant (his parents came from Mexico) and his track record is pretty bad. Europeans certainly aren't better. The British are terrified of east Europeans coming over. No race is blameless. Even many African countries oppose migration from neighbors. As for the main topic; selfishness is itself not the problem. There is nothing wrong with being selfish. What is wrong is that people are using the migration system to give themselves an unfair advantage at the expense of others. |

Re: I have serious issues with the Chinese community
In regards to the chinese, I find most of them rude, selfish, and greedy. I actually just spoke to two chinese clients yesterday and both of them had no professional manners what so ever. It's all about me me me.
I often times wish that the Japanese wiped them out in World War II. |

As for the racism...depending on where you live, you might find that some Hispanics (again, at least where I live) are very racist too, especially since they don't get out of their comfort zone and realize there are millions and millions of people different from them and their religion. You are different, kudos for that, and you should be able to stand up and try to change people's way of thinking, which is, very difficult. |
