I want to buy a house but...

Hello all,
I want to buy a house but before I start that process I wanted to ask you guys for some tips. I would also like to know if any of you guys had any issues when applying for the loan, meaning, did any of the banks requestes a gc.

Thank you all.

I don't think we can get mortgage because of our status.
I asked Chase, they only lent $$ to USC or resident

Wells Fargo asks for your immigration status before even doing a credit check.

Okay so i guess i will have to stop by bank of america.
I am okay with the 20% down, i just want to avoid the banks that will ask for status.

Try a credit union, they have awesome rates and if you're a member they might give you less of a hassle.

They won't care about your legal status. You currently have a social security number. They will run that and your name to check to see if everything is good. They are going to check your credit history and your bank history. If you have the 20% down-payment then it has to be in the bank. They are going to ask if you have any other assets, like retirement, car, etc. You are able to apply for a home loan with a work permit.

If you have no credit history, which I'm guessing you don't, then it might be harder to get a good loan and they might ask more than the 20%. Good luck and let us know how it went with trying to get a home loan.
