Dream Grant and Cal Grant B
 

Hey Californian Dreamers,

I have a financial aid question. I'm currently attending a Cal State and I got Approved for the Dream Grant which cuts my tuition expenses to about 25% of what I typically would have to pay in full. My brother also goes to the same school and he got the Dream Grant and Dream Cal Grant B which took care of all of his expenses and some extra cash on the side.

Does anyone here know how to get Dream Cal Grant B??? It's probably it's past due to apply for Cal grant B but does anyone here know exactly how to get it?

Did you complete a Transfer Entitlement Cal Grant Certification Form, because I did and then was told that I did not qualify for the Grant A or B.

I don't recall Filling up anything like that but I did get approved for a "DREAM Cal grant" which is equivalent to a cal grant A. Where do you do that form? My brother can't recall what he filled up cause he literally filed for everything and see which one hits or misses. 😑

If you don't mind me asking, what was your EFC?

I was supposed to transfer this semester (Fall). They messed up on my cal grant and my GPA verification. My name was too long to fit the dream act app, so when my school sent my GPA it did not match with my dream act app. I have spoken to several reps, and they keep telling me it will take a month+ to process my application. I am beyond devastated, because I do not have the funds to pay the tuition in full or in payments. I tried to apply to my community college again, but all the classes are full. I am waitlist 9+ on all the classes. Sorry, I just wanted to vent. I am deflated. :(

About two week ago I log into the California Student Aid Commission to check and update my phone number. Once I log to the web site I was prompt to complete the Transfer Entitlement form the following day Grant B which stated Approval Pending now says DENIED...

Furthermore, I check for the previous school year and my grant information appeared as denied for all grants.

Am not sure why, all I know that I did receive some soft of financial aid because I only paid partial of the school cost at Cal Poly Pomona.

I never receive the money into any checking accounts instead it was like a BOGW. Around March I was told to add a bank account for direct deposit for financial aid for the school year 2014 - 2015. I do not really understand the how the direct deposit works,whether one receive the fund before school start or during the first of school?

Ggalicia, if you don't mind letting me know, what was your EFC? I also got denied, but I don't know why even though I sent all my documents. Thanks for your response.

What up you all, I was approved for a Cal Grant B, however I did not get it because the university I was going to ran out of funding for the Dream Grant So just wanted to give you guys a heads up. Basically, getting approved for the Grant is one thing, and actually receiving it is another.
