Re: MSNBC Segment on impending EO

I have a feeling, that Obama's delay on his EO until after the midterm elections will cause the Democrats the Senate.

I am not saying it out of frustration or some kind of bias, I really think the immigrant voters that stayed home or voted Republican (because they think maybe the repubes would help them moreso than the Democrats) would have voted Democrat if they saw a point to it, but some are now saying "meh, why bother, politicians will be politicians, either Democrat or Republican".

And even if the Democrats don't lose the Senate, then I believe it didn't have to be so close to them losing and they could've been a bit more safe with a latino voting bloc surge.

I am not totally educated on this stuff, but it is just a gut feeling. Now-a-days, all I am hearing is how latino voters are pissed, or staying home, or possibly voting Republican, its like the real secret behind winning the Senate has been revealed.

Well I recently read an article on this and it actually suggested the opposite of what you're saying. The Republicans regardless are poised to make massive gains in the Senate. So I don't think the executive action would have helped Democrats in any way either and I guess in this case the costs outweighed the benefits for Obama and Co. by issuing executive action before the elections. But for sure you can expect something after from all the buzz lately. This guy is a master politician.

You know immigration is simmering up when our resident immigration expert Fresh starts posting! Would you like to share some hot news from your Twitter feeds that would indicate a possibility of impending executive action from Barry? I ask because the original DACA was revealed to us by a noble Dreamer and fellow DAPer like yourself through his contacts,

Lol, I am by no means an expert. I just keep my ear to the ground because I know that many of us need relief to be extended to our parents.

What worried me was the emergency phone call that UWD had last night as they seem to think that the EO will not include as many people as it should. They are hearing something from their contacts on Capital Hill that has them concerned, so we should be as well.

Geez, has something else happened?

Last I heard was the concern that it would be a low million figure like 2-3 million, is it less now maybe...:?

After all that hype and it ends up being like 1 million, maybe even less...lol...I'm glad for whoever got their relief, but the EO then didn't need so much hype...lol...

Posted another article that came through my feed early this morning. I keep reading 3 million potential beneficiaries also, but keep in mind the actual goal of activists was as much as the Senate bill: at least 8 million.

And I could've sworn I was reading articles a couple of months ago where Obama, or at least the White House was flirting the option of using the Senate Bill as the general guidelines for Obama's EO.

Why go from 8 million to 1-3 million, such a cop out...but I guess they know best...lol...

And honestly, if its 1 million, that would seem like such a let down.

But on the other hand, I don't see how USCIS will be able to process 8 million applications, I wouldn't be surprised if half of those end up waiting years for any kind of update. It would be like waiting for employee sponsorship or relative petitions all over again. They would have to hire thousands of new USCIS employees to handle the load methinks.
