Texas ID HELP

So I just got approved for DACA for the first time and I got my EAD in the mail and it uses both my last names but for the past 19 years or so that I've been living here I've only used one last name. I didn't think this would be a problem because of the SS application it had a field for "given name" (which is where I put both last names) and a field for "name shown on card" which is where I only put one last name (the one I've been using.) The guy at the SS place said it didn't matter that I have to use both since that's how it appears on my EAD. My question is, is there anyway I can get it so my ID only uses one last name? I know you don't have to take your SS to get an ID so if I take documents showing I only use one last name will they let me?
Also if they don't I would consider going to a probate court here to change it but i'm not sure of the process or if USCIS would interfere and not let me change my name.

P.s- some receipts and stuff I got from USCIS use only one last name and others use both so it makes it even more confusing. I called USCIS and they said I'd have to submit another I765 and pay the fees and wait another 3 months if I wanted it corrected

Negative. You have to use both names. The only way you can mame a "name change" is YES by going to court and you have to spend quite a bit of money OR wait till you become a citizen and on the app tell them you only want 1 last name. Hope it helps but for now you are stuck w 2 last names. TC

You would need to get a legal name change through a court order in order to drop the second last name on the ID.

What's your timeline for your DACA case? I'm a first time DACA applicant as well. I'm still waiting to get approved.

Do you know if I'd have to pay for a new EAD card? OR how I would even go about telling immigration about the name change?

Yeah it seemed like a never ending wait but compared to others who have waited 6+ months I was very lucky.

App sent: July 18
Biometrics: August 22
Approval: October 21

so overall it was pretty standard for me :)

I went through the same thing, and no, you HAVE to use both names. What's the worst part for me? In many cases, my last names do not fit the spaces given for last name, which sucks, but hey, it's not my fault.

Crazy, my EAD came with both last names and when i got my DL it was issue with only my first, middle and 1 last name, same thing for my siblings.

Wow it only took you 3 months and 6 days to get approved! :-D that was quick. What service center was your case approved? Nebraska?

I'd imagine most people who qualify for DACA have already gotten it so the backlog is not as bad.
