How exciting is this time?

I was getting calls from my friends congratulating me but I've tried to keep my emotions pretty even. Still, yesterday I was on a job site doing boring manual labor work that I usually do this time of the year and was thinking "this may be the last Christmas season I'm doing this crappy work...that's exciting. " hell, I even dared to enjoy doing it thinking one day I might look back at it with nostalgia.

For those of you who got DACA, how long did it take before it hit you that this might actually work?

I don't want to celebrate too early. I'm almost scared of entering the market place (for my field) at 33. Then again, I'm super excited about the possibility of putting all of this behind me and living what most people consider to be a boring life.

If this thing actually goes through, I am going to be completely lost too but it's a good kind of lost where the future is full of fun unknowns and opportunities.

Practically speaking, I still have some loyalties to the people who have helped me so I can't just say "take this job and shove it!" after that, I'm not sure what to do if (when) I get an EAD. I guess first thing would be to get a proper in-state driver's license so I don't have to worry about getting pulled over, even if the new one would have a 2 year limit. Next order of business would be getting that stupid "not valid for employment" stamp removed from my social security card.

Then I'm sure the reality that I'm a 39 year old (probably 40 year old by the time that's done) who has to enter the real job market will kick in. Do I start an entry level job in my field? Will they take into account some of the experiences that I have? Do I tell them about my past?

It wasn't until the moment I was approved! I was beyond happy! Crying of happiness and excitement that I could finally work and drive without fear of getting pulled over or getting fired. My father is a permanent resident and has been for the past 15 years and as much as I asked him to fix my status he never had the time/interest to help me. I also got scholarships and grants that were taken away because I wasn't a permanent resident or citizen. I'm so grateful for DACA because it really changed my life in so many ways and opened many doors for me. I hope you guys are able to receive the same benefits!! Stay positive :)

I have the same sentiment. I just can't comprehend how my life is going to be... So, I am not that super excited YET.

It felt great. I honestly had no idea of DACA after the last reform failed. I just stop carrying and then August 15 comes and I hear all this talk of DACA and wonder what it was. But before that I had already made plans to go back home and find work there.

It took me exactly 3 moths, including that the (RFE) I couldn't believe how fast and smooth the process was. I am glad they are going to give the same opportunity to older people that didn't met the age requirements like my brother who is 35 and was consider too old, but he is excited as well! You have no idea how much your world changes, from having a form of ID with picture, DL , Work with no problems, build credit, buy a new car, Everything has been a blessing for me can't thank GOD and the president enough.. Good Luck!
