Delays in DACA renewals
 

I think that it has been pretty clear that this was the general case for renewals if you have been watching people's timelines here. But it is good evidence for why people should be sending away renewal applications the very first day they are eligible to under the rules.

Does anybody have anything to say about initial requests current timeline?. I heard it went up to 180 days estimate, while renewals remain at 90 days.

Initial request say 6 months. I just did my initial request, yeah I know, I should not have waited 2 years into the program, but I had my reasons. Anyway, I got approved about 5 months in. So it is more or less accurate to what they are saying it is

Well, I know somebody that just got the initial approval in just a little more than five months too, but I think the issue is that for the renewals there are people who are not getting the renewal even if they submit on time. It could be, though, that some of these "late" renewal/approvals are happening because some people are waiting to submit the application until later than they should.

I also think that the initial applications should be going through on time because one would expect at this point that the volume is significantly less than the first wave of Dreamers who are renewing right now because they applied in 2012 and 2013. What they really need to do is develop a rubber stamp process of sorts for renewals, where you get a renewal almost automatically if your application was initially approved and you had committed no crimes after that approval. But then again that makes too much sense and of course immigration law in this country seems designed only to make absolutely no sense whatsoever.
