How long did it take you to get DACA?
Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and wanted to ask you all how long it took you to get your DACA for the first time. The reason I want to know is because I am kinda at the mercy of time here since I want to get DACA before I leave to college this September. Let me say a little bit about myself. I went to see a notary a couple months back to get my DACA application done but she said I needed more documents, so I once I got these documents she said I would also need an ID for the biometrics, she said I could get a passport ID to use for the appointment. Well the problem is we called and they said I have to wait until I am 18 since my mom didn't have a legal document giving her sole custody over me (my dad is somewhere in mexico and she said he wouldn't give her the custody 12 years ago before we came to America). So basically we held off on mailing the application until I had the passport because we didn't want to be called for a biometrics appointment and miss it because I didn't have an ID. I turn 18 in August and I leave for college September and I'm afraid of leaving and not get my DACA in time or get called for my biometrics appointment and have to miss school time to go home and get it done. So guys how long did it take you guys from the time you sent your application, got your biometrics appointment, and finally got your permit in the mail?

Hey, welcome!
It took a few months. Look at the signature below, most members have a time table for their own applications. |
Re: How long did it take you to get DACA?
Hmm so it took you about 3-4 months I see. I'm thinking I should probably take a year off from school to make sure I get my DACA in order and not be gone in case they ask me for something. After you do your biometrics appointment is there something else you need to do, or is it just about waiting for your DACA to arrive in the mail?

My BF has been waiting over 8 months :/and no RFE at all, The status says Initial Review!! His lawyer called about 2 weeks ago to accelerate the process. I think you should try to get in to college because you don't need any documents. Just apply for AB540 |
