That's great news! I heard you can naturalize right after BCT, is that what he did? And my OPI is scheduled next Monday and probably enlisting this month, do you think I'll be able to ship around late May to early July once I'm done with SSBI?

Yes you do receive the citizenship right after basics and DEP for new daca enlistees are 9 months now. so if you sign this month you wont leave for basics untill september next year. Good luck with your OPI

the completion of your SSBI cannot accelerate your ship date, but will delayed if its not complete

Not just can - must. Every MAVNI applicant must apply for citizenship upon completion of basic. Green card holders for example can choose not to, but most do.

Hmm from the recruiter I spoke to, the timeline from applying to BCT is closer to 3 months. I wonder if that varies by region? Plan on going in for critical language/ reserves option, but as far as I was told that has no real effect for the process (vs. active duty/healthcare, etc.)

You will hand in your N-400 packets right when you get to reception at basic, from there USCIS will start processing you citizenship paper and 10 weeks later you should be able to get you paper before you go to AIT, but sometimes it does get delay "c'mon it USCIS we are talking about here", but you will eventually get it. its 100% guaranteed that you will receive citizenship through this program

Maybe he meant 2 to 3 months for a typical enlistment app process. So what you're saying is there's virtually a 6 to 9 months documentation/processing hiatus from the date of application, before even the BCT takes places eh.

Either way I'll find out, going to pull the trigger on this in a few days, thanks for the advice and will update here with my experience.

ASVAB scheduled for next week, I did confirm the 9 month period also, I guess that starts right after being sworn in / isn't part of the enlistment process, so I'll probably get shipped to BCT sometime late next year.

Also hired a tutor for my OPI since I probably have a few weeks.
