*Mortgage related* Applying when fake ssn shows up on old W2's?
I'm looking for any guidance, advice, or even person experience on the issue of getting a mortgage being a DACA recipient!
My fiancé was approved and got his new ssn in 2014 (before doing taxes), however when he did his taxes for that year with his new ssn, the old one still showed up with his employer on the W2. On his 2015 1040 taxes and W2's his new ssn is on there. The ONLY place the fake one appears on is the W2 for 2014. The mortgage broker requires the two years of taxes and W2's. Will it be a problem when they see a different ssn on the 2014 W2 than everywhere else? How can we explain this without giving out too much info (bluntly stating it was fake). I know it was wrong, but we can't turn back time so I'm just looking for answers on what to do now. We have been waiting so long to buy a home, we have down payment and everything else is perfect, it's just this issue that we had not thought of. I don't want to get him in trouble so I don't want to say the wrong things. It would be helpful and appreciated if anyone has legal advice, comments, or anyone that has gone through the mortgage process were there any difficulties you got over or avoided along the way? |

The world needs renters too...until a few years pass and you're all legit.

We have a dog and are not willing to abandon her just because landlords don't allow dogs. I have contacted several and all are very strict on that. We don't live in a big city, so there are not a lot of options to choose from. In my town there are no apartment complexes, and house rent is $2,300+. In fiance's city there are more apartments to choose from, but it's a completely unsafe city with a lot of gang violence, no pets allowed in all I've contacted. The safer areas have a minimum monthly rent of $1,700 for an apartment, and safe + allowing pets is a bit closer to the $2,000. Owning a home in my town equals to a monthly mortgage of $950-$1,400 for the price range & size we're looking at (starter homes). I'm just trying to exhaust all of our possible options, because I am looking at all different alternatives, but I don't want to give up so easily on owning a home since it's the safest route and we're financially stable for it. |

Do you own your dog or does your dog own you?

It's rough...20 years ago or so we found a pup in a junk yard and took her in and wasn't sure what she was so she got really big and the redneck neighbors who already didn't like us complained and we were forced to get rid of her. I haven't got another dog since and won't get another one until I have a green card, but I digress.
Home ownership in general is a giant pain in the butt and often isn't even the most economical solution since it keeps you from having employment mobility and by the time you figure in all the repairs, taxes, etc. you may actually lose money. You WOULD have to live in a smaller apartment for the numbers to work out but your numbers still sound weird to me. I don't know where you live but in Texas at least, thanks to the oil bust and over building of "luxury" apartments, it's going to be interesting to see what happens with rent so good deals will be had. |
