Opening a business bank account with Banik of Americda
 

Hello all,

I have a question. I am taking over a restaurant, and I need to open a business account. I already have Bank of America checking and savings accounts and a credit card from Bank of America.

I have all the necessary information for opening business bank accounts, including business licenses and stuff. But, one thing that bothers me is the country of citizenship....

Of course, like opening up a regular checking or savings account at a bank, they ask you about the country of citizenship... Because I am considered "a non-resident alien", I can't apply online and have to go to a bank in person to apply...

Do you know whether they ask you for a passport or something? I forgot what I did when I opened my personal accounts...

I do have a state ID and am a DACA beneficiary. So, I have a SSN and a work permit... But, I am afraid....

How about you look up what documents you need on the Bank of America website?

If it is a sole proprietorship,

I don't think BOA is all that immigrant friendly. My mother who has a green card opened up an account there and wanted to add me as a signer. At the time, I had a perfectly good in state driver's license, was a signer on another account, and had my own account with other banks. BOA wanted to see *MY* green card as well.

Thanks... I am aware of those documents. What I meant was.... when I go to a Bank of America center in person and am asked about my country of citizenship, I am not sure what to do... If they ask for my passport, which expired, I am not sure what to do..

Hmm.. Sorry about your experience. I didn't have any bad experience with my local Bank of America, but I am not sure about other places...
