Not sure how to get past this work authorization question on job app
The question is, "Are you authorized to work in the country to which you are applying?"
The only options are (it's a list of selections I can't bypass):
:( I have no idea what to put. There is a box that says, "If no, please explain your status," which seems kind of discriminatory and I feel like by putting no, I'll just be eliminated anyway. Not that I have a choice to lie and say yes to anything. Idk. What do you guys suggest? ETA: Okay, I just said "no" and put that I have a valid ead and am authorized to work in the us :/ hopefully that doesn't hurt my chances |

On their prerequisites, what does it say? Only legal citizens can apply? We do not sponsor people?

Nothing like that in the description, no. I've applied to a couple positions at the same company and they never had such a narrow selection before. They recently revamped their whole jobs section and now it's more limited. Not sure what happened.

I would go with blank.
Give it a try. |

If they ask say you have something similar to a green card but instead of renewing every 10 years you renew every 2 years.

Forgot to update this but just wanted to mention I decided to go with the green card option because on the company's end, there's still more they have to go through if you have a visa versus ead.

Re: Not sure how to get past this work authorization question on job app
I would say green card, once you make it for first day, they cannot deny you based on you showing an EAD, if they were to ask, tell them you are in the process. They can't ask to be that specific unless the job requires security clearance orsomething crazy like that. You never tell them you have an EAD until the first day when you show it.

Re: Not sure how to get past this work authorization question on job app
The correct answer to this question if anyone ever encounters it is the second one. Although we really don't have a visa, that is the closest answer. EAD provides us with a temporary work authorization time period, much like a visa. In fact I'm willing to bet per immigration rules, the two are considered the same if you know what I mean. You can't say "green card" because clearly none of us are permanent residents. That could really hurt your chances if you show up and they ask you for your green card.

OP, can you give us an update on the outcome of the application?
