So check this out concerning EAD renewals

This is concerning TPS but the process is very similar to DACA.

Quote:

USCIS recognizes that some re-registrants may not receive their new EAD until after their current work permits expire. Therefore, we are automatically extending current TPS El Salvador EADs with a Sept. 9, 2016 expiration date for six months. These existing EADs are now valid through March 9, 2017.
So they do have the power to automatically extend our EADs so that we don't expire. If mass approvals don't start coming next month, then we need to find a way to pressure them for extensions.

This was from a press release this month.

DACA isn't TPS so not sure how this would apply to us

DACA is akin to TPS, but what you should take from Jaylove's post is that USCIS acknowledges the fact that some applicants will expire before there's a decision on their case and that USCIS can automatically extend current EADs.

So there's hope that USCIS may do the same for us.

If I can recall, they are already doing that to DACA recipients. I remember people here saying that they got expansions on their cards because they were taken too long.

Anyone has any information on how to get expansion, or is it automatic? Mine expires in 3 weeks and I'm worried it won't be processed in time.

No they are not! Did you even read the thread you posted? He wasn't able to get an extension on his EAD. So far I am yet to see a DACA recipient who was able to get their EAD extended temporarily.

I think there is some validity to OP, as USCIS site states the following :-

"Note: If USCIS is unexpectedly delayed in processing your renewal request, we may provide deferred action and employment authorization for a short period of time until we finish processing your request. We may do this if you filed your request at least 120 days before your current period of deferred action and employment authorization expire."

So what does that have to do with people on here who actually had success with obtaining an extension? They clearly say on their official website that we can apply for extensions but in practice no DACA recipient has been able to do so far.

Not that we know off. It clearly says right here if DACA general is taking long they will simply extend the current one as long you filed your application in the allowed timeline.

And this is from 2014.
