We need to act now!
Fellow Dreamers,
In light of Donald Trump's administration planning for building a Wall and setting up a Muslim Registry. It is important now that we take steps to ensure that the Trump administration does not have access to our home addresses, phone numbers, etc. We need to petition the Obama administration to wipe USCIS databases of DACA recipients information. It's one thing for DACA to be canceled. But it's another thing entirely for USCIS to forward that information to ICE. We cannot be complacent and expect that Donald Trump's administration won't use that information against us. We need to do something now! |

Same thing with IDNYC, many undocumented NYC residents fear data will be misused by the Trump administration.

Yes, He mentioned it earlier this month. http://pixel.nymag.com/imgs/daily/in....w710.h473.jpg Mayor Bill de Blasio pledged on Thursday to “confront” any actions from President-elect Donald Trump that he perceives as a “threat to New Yorkers.” “We’re not going to take anything lying down,” he told reporters at City Hall. Specifically, de Blasio said he would fight any attempts by a Trump administration to deport undocumented New Yorkers, roll back abortion rights, or repeal Obamacare. Of particular concern is the city’s database of personal information on more than 850,000 people who have an IDNYC card. Nearly a half-million of those people are undocumented, and de Blasio said if Trump tried to get his hands on their information, he would be in for a “real fight.” “We are not going to sacrifice a half million people who live among us,” he said. “We’re not going to tear families apart. We will do everything we know how to do to resist that.” If necessary, de Blasio said, the entire database could be deleted. The mayor’s remarks Thursday stand in contrast to the more conciliatory tone he took on Wednesday, when he said he was at least glad “that the president-elect is a dyed-in-the-wool New Yorker.” |
Re: We need to act now!
There's one campaign in the very early stages I saw on facebook:
#purpledacaletters Up to 30 likes and it hasn't even been a day! Here is a quick description of what we are trying to do with this campaign... we will be coming out with more information, videos, flyers, etc. soon! #purpleDACAletters is a campaign geared towards raising awareness about DACA and all the wonderful contributions DACA students have given to society. DACA students as well as DACA allies will be writing letters that will be sent to state representatives in purple envelopes. More information along with guidelines for people who want to participate will be coming out soon. Take the first step by liking and sharing our page and hashtag #purpleDACAletters More info to come |
