safe to travel under ban?

i have read warnings that people should not travel internationally with AP until there is a better understanding of what the current administration is going to do with DACA. i haven't, however, read anything about whether it is safe to travel for dreamers who have recently received their GC and have become LPRs.

i am assuming it should be fine, but want read your input.

my H and i are trying to take a trip to Spain in May (but need to book as early as next month). i received my GC last week and he is an Iranian-American USC (who was born here). we have spent a good deal of the day doing research, but have not found any concrete information - only that the ban does not apply to USCs who hold dual-citizenship from one of the 7 countries.

his parents are concerned and say maybe we should just go to Hawaii instead. his brother will be going to Mexico around the same time, and he believes there will be no issue. but again, just curious for your input.

thanks in advance!

I wouldn't risk it.

So he has dual citizenship?

If he has an American Passport that says he was born in US and there's no reference to his Iranian ties than he would probably be ok. I would consult with a lawyer or at least wait to see what comes out of these lawsuits.

thank you!

yes, he has dual-citizenship because his parents were born in Iran (though they have long since become USCs). his passport lists his nationality as U.S. and place of birth as U.S. so no, it does not show a connection that i can tell.

you are right about waiting to see the outcome of the lawsuits - i think we will do that.

do you think there would be difficulties for dreamers who have a GC? i know a couple who want to travel as well, but no luck finding info.

this is crazy!

Yea, that's a hard one. I don't have an answer for that.

If you have residency or citizenship, I would not worry.
