Re: Sessions' confirmation vote set for Wednesday
He is well known as the most anti-immigrant advocate in the US , he has no compassion at all and voted against every immigration reform bill in the past. We all all fucked if he becomes the next AG , I believe he will be because Republican has majority seats in both chamber of congress
God ! Please wake up ! Open your eyes to see what is happening ! |

Re: Sessions' confirmation vote set for Wednesday
This is bad, but it was not unexpected. A lot of the relief that deportation cases depend on will disappear, so basically if we get caught up in deportation proceedings our odds will go from low to near zero. But that doesn't mean we should focus solely on planning to relocate to another country just yet. Everyone should have an exit strategy, but it is only to be used as the very last resort. I have my exit strategy planned out, but only so that I am not completely lost if the time comes. I don't plan on using it until I've exhausted every last avenue.
As of right now DACA is still standing. I know that it is on very shaky ground, but it is not gone yet. I've moved back in with my parents to reduce costs and I am saving as much money as I can so I have something to take with me if I have to leave. But as long as DACA stands we still have something. If DACA is removed they will push for the BRIDGE Act. I know a lot of people don't think it has a good chance of passing, but neither does a stand alone enforcement bill, there is room for compromise. If we get some sort of legal protection then Sessions won't be able to take it away. Things look really grim right now for the undocumented community, but we are the most sympathetic group out there. As long as that is the case we still have a chance. And as long as I am able to work and make money, my parents will be alright as well. We've had discussions about this, they are scared as well, but if they had to leave and I was able to stay, a dollar goes a long way where we are from. If we ultimately end up with nothing, then I plan to just keep working and saving until I get caught or until ICE comes to get me at home through the DACA database (highly unlikely in my opinion). As long as I stay out of trouble, I might be able to outlast the Trump years. If I am detained I had planned to use an attorney to prolong my case in court past the Trump presidency, but that plan might now be out the window with Sessions as the AG. So instead I will represent myself in court (usually NOT recommended) in order to save the attorney money because even with an attorney the odds are at near zero. If I get ordered deported, then I'll comply with the order to avoid jail time. But I will have exhausted all avenues of relief and leave with some savings instead of spending it on an attorney and leaving with nothing. If I do find myself out of the U.S. I probably won't just stay wherever I land. I will be looking to relocate as soon as possible, either to another country like Canada, or at least to a safer part of my home country. If you have a degree in something, you will always be worth something to someone. There are possibilities for educated people, even in third world countries. I also believe that when power changes hands again, DREAMers might be able to find a way back in to the U.S. That's if you even want to come back. If I start a good little business somewhere, get married, and have kids, I might not be inclined to return even if the offer were extended. I guess my overall point is that life goes on. I have invested years of my life in college, post graduate studies, and I have a good career. All of that is at risk right now and I am just as worried as everyone else. But I won't let what is currently going on right now fundamentally change who I am. I got this far because of my determination and hard work ethic, and that doesn't change even if they take everything away, unless you let it. In the end I think we might get a break. Maybe they end new applicants for DACA and those already in it can keep renewing "until congress comes up with a more permanent solution." Maybe they pass the BRIDGE Act. Maybe they attach something better to an enforcement bill. Maybe if they let us work until our EAD's expire, the issue will become so hot that they have to do something about it near the midterm elections. All of these options are still on the table, and if any one of them goes through, Sessions won't be able to do much about it. |

Reminder that Bush/Obamas secure communities that deported 4 million aliens at its height not letting apprehended folk even see a judge. Just catch and deported. And this was with out Sessions. I cannot imagine how more active ICE will be with him |

With Jeff session as the AG, there is no hope all that any immigration reform bill will pass. I am not optimistic at all.
I am so fucking terrified |
