I'm an initial DACA applicant so sorry for the ignorance but is it true that I can get a Texas ID without a ssn as long as I show ead, approval and birth certificate. Is this true, is it true that I only need the social for a driver's license?

That's no longer true. You now need to present SS as well to get Texas ID
