I Got In!
Hi all!
so here's the deal. I graduated from college last May, and last week I got into one of the top journalism schools in the country (and my first choice)! I'm so excited, and to be honest, a big part of the reason I am pursuing this career path is to use my writing and reporting talents to benefit US. I want to be a public advocate for the DREAM Act and undocumented citizens everywhere, and truly be a voice for the people. YOU people. So as you can imagine, I am absolutely dying to go. However, my family and I are not exactly rolling in dough, and I need tuition money. Fortunately, j-school is only a year long, so compared to other graduate school programs, the amount of money I need is minimal, but in terms of my financial capacities at the moment, the amount is exorbitant. My question is, does anyone know of good and reliable loan programs for international students or undocumented citizens? If any of you are (or were) graduate school students yourselves, any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone! This site rocks my world. |

We're so proud of you; Congratulations! As far as the loans go, it's been discussed on our forum before so you might want to do a search, but I don't think anyone has been successful as of yet...keep trying though!

Re: I Got In!
Yeah I got into grad school for biology too unfortunately there's no way I can get there departments research fellowship money to pay for my tuition or my stipend. It's a private school in LA and it's 40 K a year. It'd be stupid to pay for that kind of grad school too plus I'd be there for 5 years but yeah! I got in...neat I guess

Re: I Got In!
try astrive student loans. if you have a co-signer with good credit and a US citizen i think it should work but ask others who have tried it.

Re: I Got In!
i got accepted into a graduate program at USC :) unfortunately i dont think I can afford the $54,000 tuition per year (2 yr program)...the UC tuition I pay now is a breeze compared to what private schools demand
