Question about a lawyer
 

To all you savvy DREAMers, I have just met up with a lawyer who I am hopeful will be able to help me with my case but because of what I've gone through in the past I want to make sure that this lawyer is a good one. Is there any way that I can check up on the history/conduct of a lawyer? Thank you much in advance.

Check your state's attorney general's office. You can go their website and see if they have any ratings on lawyers or such. Most states do, some don't. I don't know if BBB conducts ratings on lawyers or not but you can check that out.

The AILA (American Immigration Lawyers Association) is the industry group of immigration attorneys and they have a database of immigration attorneys across the U.S. Membership in the AILA isn't a requirement to practice immigration law but it is usually perceived as the minimum standard of a competent immigration attorney.
