New Employment Advice?
Hi all, I recently graduated with my BA degree and started looking for jobs. I got an amazing offer that I simply couldn't deny. It's in the field that aligns with my career goals! I accepted and I will be starting soon!
I'm pretty nervous for my first day, as I will be meeting with HR. This is my first time going through a hiring process in a professional field ( with my current employer I simply updated my information after I got my ead ). I'm worried that they might not accept my work permit due to the current political climate and the 2 year limit. I already submitted my two weeks notice at my current employer and training my replacement. My question is has anyone received new employment recently and how did it go? Am I worrying for nothing? :O |

Since you already passed background check, and you already have a starting date I think you should be fine. Prior to background check, what did you write down for your current legal status? |

Also, I didn't have a background check or at least not yet. I applied, had an interview, i was told they were going to hold second interviews. Instead, they called the next day, told me I got the job and gave me my starting date! Their website highlights they hire everyone regardless of national origin, race, nationality etc... |
Re: New Employment Advice?
Although some people have experienced rescinded offers, you should be fine.
When you show your EAD to HR, emphasize you will not ever need sponsorship from the company. Stress that your EAD is renewable without any company action. Depending on the company, they may or may not know what DACA is (actually, you don't need to mention it). Simply keep noting that you will not need sponsorship. They may consult with their attorneys to be sure. |

I work for one of largest banks in US and i didn't have any sort of problem when I was hired back in Feb of 2016. All an employer has to do is receive proof you have valid worth authorization and thats it. Even though my current EAD expires in few days (renewal was approved recently) my HR department has just been sending me emails to show new worth authorization documents.

Re: New Employment Advice?
I just accepted a govt job (adjunct faculty) with less than a year left on my EAD (And I'm in the south). HR didn't make a big deal out of it. They didn't even tell me to send a new one when I get approved (yet).

Re: New Employment Advice?
Hello everyone, I would like some advice on how you guys got a job after college.
I am currently in a senior CUNY college working on getting my Finance degree with a minor in Information Technology and Social Responsibility. I graduate this semester in May. I have applied to probably over 250 jobs and internship both on Linkin and my college career website but I haven't had any luck. I revised my resume a number of times and I talked to a lot of people about what I can do to land an internship or job. Now I am stressed that I am graduating and I don't have a job lined up as yet. I would love to work in anything to do with Finance. Any advice or a point in the right direction would be appreciated. Do any of you guys work in the Finance field and how did you get your job? |
