United We Dream Rejects Trump’s New White Supremacist Immigration Plan

Washington, DC – Overnight, in advance of Trump’s rally in Phoenix, AZ today, McClatchy News reported that the White House is working on an immigration deal, which would use immigrant youth as a fig leaf to mask a white supremacist wish list of immigration changes to carry out Trump’s racist mass deportation agenda.

The plan is being floated as 800,000 immigrant youth and their families campaign to protect the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) which – for five years – has protected these immigrant young people and has enabled them to work, drive and otherwise live their lives. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and a group of anti-immigrant politicians have threatened to sue Trump before an anti-immigrant judge if he doesn’t kill the DACA program by September 5, exactly two weeks from today.

Cristina Jimenez, Executive Director of United We Dream said:

“Imigrant youth will not be used as a bargaining chip for a white supremacist deal to terrorize our parents, families and friends.

“My brother has DACA and my parents are undocumented. I ask Members of Congress and all people to think of their own families before considering this latest “deal” from Trump to use my brother’s welfare to put a hit out on my parents. Would you cut a deal which would result in your own mother being chased down and locked into a detention camp to be tormented and abused? The deal is morally wrong and must be rejected.

“We heard the hate-filled chants in Charlottesville calling for a country without people of color, without immigrants. This is no coincidence. The Trump team is pushing a white nationalist agenda to remove immigrants from society, lock us into detention camps and force us out of the country.

“We renew our call on Trump, General Kelly and those with a conscience at the White House to leave the DACA program alone and we renew our call on Attorney General Paxton to drop his lawsuit threat.

“Immigrant youth are escalating our drive to save the DACA and TPS programs and block the Trump mass deportation agenda. Our lives and the lives of our families are at stake. This is our home and we are #HereToStay.”

Fuck them. They don't speak for the 800 k lives

Paxton is not going to drop the lawsuit. No dream act legislation will pass on its own, not even the bridge act . What will name calling the administration do to help our cause? Biggest bunch of morons I've ever come across.

I don't believe any of the given compromises that Republicans have mentioned (Wall, Everify, etc) have indicated that there will be mass deportation. This type of fear that UWD is creating is only going to hurt us.

this will make it harder for our people to come here to america whether its legal or not. plus we cant bring our parents anymore

Can we all please message UWD and all the Astrids and tell them to stop talking for all of us, DACA recipients?

Let me get this straight. Once again, they'd rather us lose DACA, go back into the shadows, so that in the end no one gets legalized?

Wow. I don't get this mentality.

I'm a DACA recipient, and I accept this compromise.

UWD is the type of group that wants all criminals to be released and be given a second chance no matter what type of crime they committed.

Yes I rather go back into the shadows and live how I've always lived by my mothers and fathers side !

Only a fool would trade thier humanity and soul for legalization.

Have we forgotten the words of some great leaders who stood up against appreciation.

Humanity? Soul? I have my career on the line. My education that I worked so hard for, that I studied so much for, that I paid so much for. My roots in this country. You want me to give that up? You want me to go back to living doing jobs that an adult who just crossed the border is doing? No, I will not do that.

My parents recognize their mistake coming and staying here illegally. They feel terrible for it. They are ready to go back to their country if it doesn't work out for them.

So, no, UWD and Astrids of all sorts. I'm not going back to the shadows.

this and to anyone saying there will not be mass deportation well the deal says more money for detention centers
