2018 Expiration-Approved

So, after the original Paxton letter back in July, I decided I wasn't going to take a chance and went ahead and submitted a renewal. Especially considering that I'm in the middle of a training program and locked in for three years.

So here's the timeline.

Submitted Renewal: July 11, 2017
Walk in Biometrics: July 24, 2017
Approved: September 27, 2017
Prior Expiration: August 2018

I can't say for those that submit after September 5, but if you submitted before that, there's hope.

Yup. An extra year to work up to the fees for a GC in case the DA goes through. Or another year to work in case all goes to hell.

Maybe they'll even give you an extra 2 years

What’s the worst that can happen? Just deny your application right? But they can’t cancel your current DACA right?

You submitted for renewal a year before your EAD expired? I thought we were only allowed to do that 6 months prior to expiration.

That was just the "recommended" time.

Yeah, that was the recommended time to give them enough time to process your application so that you're DACA doesn't expire. Considering that your new EAD has an expiration date 2 years after you're approval date instead of 2 years after your old EAD expires, the sooner you send in your renewal, the better it is for USCIS because they make more money because you lose out some months.
