Being convicted doesn't strip you of your senate seat (or any elected position), the senate could vote for an ejection but they never do.

Mendez already said that he will hang onto his seat come hell or high water.

There was one Federal Judge (Walter Nixon) that spend 5 years in federal prison before congress impeached him. He collected pay during the entire period and was planning on sitting back on the bench if not for the impeachment.
