Durbin’s statement on daca development

Our belief is that if this matter is not resolved this week — and it's not likely to be resolved — that come the omnibus and the caps, that we have another chance to finally come up with a bipartisan package of things to include" by mid-January, U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., told Politico. "The closer we get (to the March deadline), the more nervous I get, not to mention the way these young people feel. I'm sorry that it's taken this long."

I don’t blame Dems for not getting this done by Friday. However, I’m disappointed on how much was said about DACA fix or government shutdown. Gaved us false hope.

I believe something will pass soon, let’s remain focused.

Spineless morons. They have to draw a hard line some time. Does this mean they are willing to by January?

What are the Dems going to then if the GOP changes its mind and doesn't want a vote then?

LOL. He is already saying that DA on the omnibus MAY be possible. Weak Dems, getting man handled.

The can got kicked down the road, and it's now round. It will roll on forever.

Daca fix will come, but it will be just that! A Daca fix.

No clean Dream Act. The best we'll get is another form of DACA. The GOP never bends over and will not give in to any demands. It's their way or the highway. In the end, the vast majority of politicians are in it for themselves so if the status quo works for them, then that's what they'll fight to preserve.

Have a great Christmas everyone! I'll see you next month.

I’m not so sure about that. Trump’s administration wants to limit legal and illegal immigration and to do that they require 60 votes. I’m not sure they’re willing to squander their anti immigrant agenda by failing to give Dems a little something.

Trump may get a piece of his wall, asylum rules changed, court procedures changed, maybe the raise act etc etc or he gets absolutely nothing. We also get absolutely nothing. I don’t think either side wants that.

While we call it the “daca fix” (since that’s the only part we’re focused on) Trump gets his win by reshaping the immigration system. This is why we get relief. Paul Ryan, McConnell et al fall in line.
