Leaked doc: Trumpworld's scathing assessment of immigration proposal

Quote:

Axios has obtained an internal memo, "Flake-Graham-Durbin Proposal Would Cripple Border Security and Expand Chain Migration," that circulated within the White House, showing this administration’s scathing assessment of the Graham-Durbin proposal.

A source familiar with the document’s preparation says it was compiled by staff at Justice and Homeland Security.

Here’s the administration’s internal assessment, per the leaked document:

1. Fails to Secure the Border: "provides less than 10 percent of the necessary funds to construct the border wall."
2. Increases Illegal Immigration and Guarantees Future Amnesties: "provides immigration benefits to certain illegal aliens who came to the United States as juveniles."
3. Proposal Not Only Grants Citizenship To Up to 3 Million “DREAMers,” But Also Grants Legal Status to Their Parents: "grants a path to citizenship to an illegal population that is nearly five times larger than the population of DACA recipients."
4. Increases Chain Migration: "keeps chain migration in place while increasing the number of individuals eligible to bring in their foreign relatives through chain migration."
5. Fails To End the Visa Lottery.

I thought they knew they’d include the Dream Act population from the get go as there would have been people that were too young to apply. Point one is unfair though, they are providing him with a down payment and the rest would come with CIR.

This is the only one that is like ehhhh is it really? Rest is true... not sure why they wouldn't give him $20b over next 5 years for boarder and be done with this shit

We know that Drumpf didn't write it, too many big words.

Considering they want an end to chain migration completely, letting us as green card holders sponsor our spouses and children under 21 would in fact increase chain migration

Unless you're having your child outside the states, you won't be sponsoring them. And if you're getting married, it's probably more likely than not that it'd be a citizen.

ere’s the administration’s internal assessment, per the leaked document:

1. Fails to Secure the Border: "provides less than 10 percent of the necessary funds to construct the border wall."
Yes, the amount of wall money (which Trump keeps changing) is not the amount he asked for. It is debatable whether that amount is needed to secure the border.
Incorrect. It grants the parents a 3 year renewable work permit. The parents cannot adjust via any child in their family to green card.
4. Increases Chain Migration: "keeps chain migration in place while increasing the number of individuals eligible to bring in their foreign relatives through chain migration."
Incorrect. Under this ALL green card holders can only sponsor their nuclear family (spouses & unmarried children under 21). That means less 'chain migration' under the current system.
5. Fails To End the Visa Lottery.
It does end the Diversity Visa lottery, and then allocates the visas 1/2 to TPS and 1/2 to merit based.

How many DACAers would actually marry and petition as LPRs? Maybe some would a long time down the line but not that many.

Maybe a few would as USCs but that's about it. Also another thing to consider about the Raise Act is how it's all worded.

IR category remains unlimited.
F1, F2B, F3, and F4 are removed.
F2A gets capped at 88,000 reduced by any category not subject to own quota (which would include IR, VAWA, Cubans, and a whole lot of other minor groups).

That's a heavy cut with IRs being unlimited but still being counted against F2A, in some cases F2A might just be unavailable, at all.
