2 Last Names Question, Help?
Hey guys, so I finally received my EAD which has only my father's last name. For the purpose of this question, say my full name at birth (on my mexican birth certificate) is John Martinez Hernandez.
Name on my EAD and Social Security Card, chase bank account: John Martinez Name on my birth certificate and college transcripts: John Martinez Hernandez Will this become an issue, if say, I wanted to apply for a drivers license? (I'm from NYC) Only two things that have my full BIRTH legal name is my birth certificate and college records. Everything else is just John Martinez. **When I applied for DACA, I sent pictures of my Mexican passport with my full birth legal name. I also included it in "Other names used".** Thanks to anybody that can help/provide some feedback. Appreciate it! |
Re: 2 Last Names Question, Help?
You should havegone put your full legal name as default and your shortened name as "other names"....
My name has two parts of first name, one last name. My EAD and passport is the same, so is my DL. Some banks and schools think my 2nd first name is a middle name, but once I show them my ead they fix it. My guess is that if you apply for a DL, they will use your EAD and leave out your other last name. |
Re: 2 Last Names Question, Help?
I have 2 last names also and have the full name on my DL, EAD and SSN.
I always use my legal name on anything thats important/official. I think when you get your DL they will use the name you have on your EAD even if you dont use the full name they will still use your DOB and SSN, so i think it would be okay. |
Re: 2 Last Names Question, Help?
It should not be an issue. I only have my first last name in all my U.S documents. Use whatever name is in your SSN. One thing I found interesting is that my SSN has my middle name initial while all my other documents spell it out. Havent had any issues though.
