Okay, so i have a question...

Since Texas (and a few other states) accepts undocumented students, does that mean that even private universities do too? or just public universities?

And in case that they dont...
When, and if, the DREAM Act passes, will we be able to apply to any private university without having to worry if they will reject us just for our legal status?

Sorry if these questions seem stupid... I just want to figure this out so I know what the Dream Act will actually change, and if i need to have a Plan B in case IT does not pass by the time i graduate high school. (in 4 years)
(i want to go to an Ivy League College) :D

You will be able to apply to anywhere without worrying about anything. Except how your going to pay for it of course.

Read the sticky's, they're full of this kind of info.

Private universities set their own policies on whether to admit undocumented students or not. They are not bound by any state legislation. Many private universities do accept undocumented students but they won't publicize it. The problem isn't admissions, its financial aid. Most private universities offer limited financial aid to undocumented students but we've heard stories of stellar students receiving free rides.

Recently, Harvard admitted an undocumented student and subsidized all four years. Naturally, the student was very accomplished.

Public universities since they are chartered by the state and receive substantial funding from the state are bound by state legislation and thus have to follow state policy on whether to admit undocumented students or not.

If you get straight A's, or you are the top of your class, then you have a chance to get into a ivy league college, and get a full scholarship.

I wanted to go to rice university 2 yrs ago, but their tuition is so high compared to instate tuition in Texas public universities (almost 30k per yr to 8k per yr). To get a scholarship from them getting A's with some B's isn't enough. Luckily, since you are a freshman in high school, you can make sure you get straight A's and get a good SAT(1400<) or ACT(didn't take) score so they can overlook the fact you are undocumented.

I wanted to go there, too! However, you know the story. :(

If i was accepted to a an Ivy League school...i wouldnt really mind about the price. I would work my butt off the most I could to ensure that I had the money to pay for my education. And my parents have told me that they will 100% support me with all the money they can. (which isnt really much, but it would certainly help) The hardest thing for me...is actually getting accepted.
And of course, since I'm about to start high school as a freshman, I will ensure that I do not slack off at any time and work the hardest I can, to become a stellar student and greatly accomplished, so I can have a slightly greater chance of actually getting accepted to a private university....or even better....an ivy league school. :D

yep. thats part of my DREAM.

oh...and...thanks mucho for the info.
to all you who answered my question. :D
