Would You Do it?
 

If the government says to you, "You can be granted an SSN and permission to travel from state-to-state, work legally, drive legally, and get financial loans [student, house, etc.] but you cannot ever leave the country," would you accept the terms?

A simple US EAD[work permit] would cover most of the above since most work permits usually say not valid for re-entry.There are also some people who are currently in the country like that,in which they are stateless or have no citizenship.There was an article a while back that involved a former naturalized US citizen who is now stateless but he has to check in with Customs enforcement every year for the rest of his life & is given a work permit to help himself.He also can never leave the United States because he is stateless & neither the U.S. or his former country are willing to re-instate his citizenship because he renounced it upon acquisition of gaining U.S. citizenship.


Heh,sorry for the rant but I'd have to say no if the "you cannot ever leave the country" is permanent.

Hell YEAH!!! I even would be willing to electrify the fence along the border with 240vac. so no more undocumented immigrants could come in.

I would say no...because I want to be a citizen ( or permanent resident) so i dont get to have any restrictions in my life. I do want to visit other countries..


But if it comes down to it someday, i'll probably end up accepting...

I am with K man and Juang on this one... lol left nut, electric fences, you guys crack me up.

It would suck, no doubt, but citizenship in the country you love is absolute priority.

I love this country to death but I want to see other places too. I dont want to feel trapped anymore.
