Can I renew my DACA work permit if I don’t have a job?

I’m currently employed but I want to quit my job to work doing renovation jobs. They’re just jobs people give me through word of mouth so I wouldn’t be paying taxes on anything I make.

If I apply for a new work permit next summer will I be declined for not having a tax paying job?

Don't need it to renew DACA but what you are saying is a tax fraud.

Renewing DACA is something you MUST do in order for them to defer your case (Deferred Action for Childhood arrivals basically). It's not something you need to do only to get a job.

Second thing, sounds like you'll be making a sizeable amount of money doing the jobs. You really have to report that and pay taxes on them. Doesn't matter you got the jobs through word of mouth. I mean if its like you're goin to be making a couple hundred dollars a year thats fine but sounds like you'll be making a lot. You have to calculate your own taxes and pay them on self employment income. What you pretty much described is tax evasion, which is a significant crime, no other way to put it.

How is it tax fraud? I don’t have a business. Do you charge people taxes for cutting their yard? Do the little girls on the street get the book thrown at them for not paying taxes on their lemonade stand?

Anyways it sounds like I’ll be fine as long as i pay taxes/give them money which is all they really care about anyways. I’ll be sure to send $750 to the IRS for my taxes then. If your president can do it.

If not then I’ll go back to school.

You are supposed to declare the income and pay taxes on it. Yes, even if you're working for cash or making money from illegal vices (drugs, prostitution, illegal gambling, smuggling, etc, in case of which you're supposed to just say "5th amendment" as to the source of the really dirty money.

Don't forget, they never pinned Capone with anything, except tax evasion.

The answer to your question. You don’t need to have a job to renew your DACA.

Just claim $70K in haircut on your taxes like Trump, then you don't have to pay anything.

This is not a very good move and may inevitably come back to haunt you.
If you need to adjust at any point and you cannot prove you are self sufficient and credit worthy, this can have a negative impact. The entire premise in which the work authorization is given, is to afford you the opportunity to legally work and pay taxes. None of us are citizens and we are depending on the sympathy and discretion of congress to give us an opportunity to continue to be outstanding citizens that pay taxes and uphold the law.

Paying taxes is a civic responsibility.
